Brand Storytelling for Wineries: Capturing the Philosophy of La Biblioteca

La Biblioteca (“the library”) believes in the power of storytelling, through wine! As storytellers ourselves, working with La Biblioteca on a video series was a match made in heaven (aka the Willamette Valley).

The Challenge

La Biblioteca wanted a series of videos with their wine consultant, François Millet (of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé fame) that highlighted his philosophy, as well as the vineyard and its unique environment. For winemaking, place is everything. We needed to highlight the unique qualities of their vineyard and the distinct approach of the people who steward this land.

Vineyards tell their story, that of soil, seasons, and climates, through the flavor profiles of the wine they produce. But how do you capture this on camera?

Our Solution

We visited La Biblioteca’s vineyard, cellar, and tasting room to showcase the entire process, from winegrowing to the moment you pour that first glass from the bottle. We captured the terroir of the vineyard, including its distinctive rocky soil, which is unique to the region. We created a master brand film that tells the story of the land in the McMinnville region alongside François' philosophy. We broke the shorter videos into Philosophy, Process, and Tasting, which allowed us to take a deeper dive into the people, place, and things that make La Biblioteca magical!

An essential part of François’ philosophy is the value of observation. His soft-spokenness conveys a life spent listening. For him, nature is the guide, and he is the interpreter. This is a valuable lesson, one that we applied to this project. As the interpreter of the land, in observing and listening to François, we were able to delve into his philosophy as well as the vineyard’s story. This helped guide us in the editing room, the final phase of storytelling in the filmmaking process.

The Results

The story of the Willamette Valley is transmitted to La Biblioteca’s wine. They captured it in a bottle, and we’ve captured it on film.

We could go on waxing poetic about La Biblioteca’s low-intervention philosophy, but François says it best. So pour yourself a glass of wine and hear it from the interpreter himself ~

And now see how all of the magic happens ~

Can you taste the wine through François’ description of the tasting notes? (hopefully yes, because their wine is delicious!)~
